Currently we are 12 groups at Umeå University that together utilise Structural Biology, using different approaches and methodologies, to study various biological problems. We have complementary expertise within structural biology, which is extremely valuable when pursuing challenging biological questions. Together we cover most of the structural biology techniques available today, including X-Ray crystallography, Electron Microscopy, Liquid and Solid state NMR, Molecular and Quantum Dynamics, Time resolved Wide Angle X-Ray Scattering as well as expertise in biochemistry and biophysics. To support this we have world-class facilities in Cryo Electron Microscopy, NMR, Protein Crystallography and a High Performance Computing Center for molecular modelling, as well as an outstanding facility for biological imaging.
